Coach David Croushore

"Now, this is a story all about how
My life got flip-turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute
To tell you all
How I ended up coaching in the town of Temescal

From west of Philadelphia, born and raised,
By the pool is where I used to spend most of my days.
Workin' out maxin' my laps in the pool
And doin' my fly each day after school
In college a few of us guys were pretty good
Sent a relay to nationals from my neighborhood
We got one little medal and wore it proud
So I moved to California with the Oakland crowd"

Dave was born and raised just outside Philadelphia where he was unable to make the swim team at his high school (which was in the midst of setting a national record for consecutive duel meet wins). When he got to college, he walked on to the swim team and set his own record, for the slowest 100 free in school history.  Four long years later, Dave was on a record-setting relay, but the good kind of record this time, and won the "most improved swimmer" award, the type of award that should only be possible to win once, for the second time.

Dave has coached a youth team in Richmond, VA and the masters swim program for the DC triathlon club in Washington, DC. His experience going from worst to first... ok, second... has given him a great foundation for helping swimmers of all ability levels to improve. Outside the pool, you can find him playing music or chess, sometimes simultaneously, and hanging out at a good winery or brewery with his wife, dog, and son.
